One of the critical skills most entrepreneurs possess is the ability to look for opportunities in different facets of life. For a businessperson, everything stems from that one core idea they come up with. In the drink industry, you may feel that certain products are still unavailable in the market or that there is space on the shelf for something new that can transform people’s lives. So, what will be your next step if you come across such a product? Will you start researching and thinking of ways to make the product available? Well, I am sure your answer would be YES!
I believe in something other than traditional business plans with pages and pages of statistics and various reports to convince people to set up a new business. Instead, I prefer to go with the flow, implement my idea and reap the profit in the future. However, I still needed to set up my business more carefully, and I highly recommend that people conduct thorough research first and only then begin.
Unlike other industries, this industry has a vast market offering scope for various unique ideas. This business trade is growing by leaps and bounds, and it is not surprising to see young entrepreneurs exploring the beverage industry. For example, people are growing more health-conscious nowadays, which has opened up an entirely new segment in this trade area. As a result, functional drinks or vitamin waters with low or zero sugar levels – which focus on improving their consumers’ health – have become quite popular. It does not mean that people have stopped having other kinds of alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks; it has just added a new niche to this dimension.
Statistically, many ideas and inventions fail within their first year because entrepreneurs need more knowledge, skill, strategy and perseverance.
The first step you should focus on is generating your idea and establishing the niche that you want to enter. I prefer first to lock in my target group. For example, I started ‘Herbal Natural Drink’, a soft drink brand, especially for people suffering from sleep disorders and stress. When I came up with this brand, my idea was simple: creating a product to help people sleep better and reduce stress. When most companies came up with sugary energy drinks, it was definitely a risk for me to start a brand like this. However, since I was clear about my target audience and this niche was untouched, it helped me and my brand succeed.

Here’s an exciting and successful story: an entrepreneur once went on a trip and found an excellent local drink. When he returned, he decided to make that local drink available in his home country, which was immensely successful for him. Sometimes, you may come across such beverages while you are away on a trip and localising them in your home country can help you succeed in the liquor, non-liquor industry. So, remember always to keep yourself open to opportunities while away from home.
Sometimes, having a beautiful story revolving around your brand can work in your favour, and if you do not have one, it can be helpful to develop one. However, if you genuinely believe your product can do wonders for its consumers, you do not have to worry about making a fake story. Go ahead with your idea and take that first step in setting up your drinks company.
Also, an essential thing to remember is to only share your idea with any company after signing an official contract first!
